I've been testing Sun's Weblog Publisher with OOo 3.0 and just recently checked out Word 2007's blog post.

Sun's is an easier setup. In Word you need to know your ftp to upload images while in OOo it uploads them to the default directories automatically. That's great for people that know nothing about ftp; however, everything else is worse than Word 2007's blog post.

OOo adds more code that shouldn't be there, formatting of graphics is very poor--everything ends up as "in-line with text" instead of left/right/center as it should be. It even tries to format your paragraphs to "left" instead of just a paragraph mark.

This was a real disappointment! Something like this Sun should have shown how much better they could be over MS, but once again it's half baked.

If I have access to using Word 2007 blog post Vs OOo +Sun Weblog Publisher I would use Word every time. Sun's Weblog Publisher doesn't really save me any time. I'm just going to have to edit the entire post and layout, remove a bunch of bad code. . . well, actually it increases my work!

Just another example of why OOo/StarOffice are years behind MS Office. Apparently the developers just don't get it?!?!? It's things like this that really make me scratch my head and wonder why Sun even bothers with OOo/StarOffice. If you aren't going to be as good as or better and often times much worse. . . why bother?
